Everything Vitor Pereira has said about Marshall Munetsi as Nottingham Forest eye move
Nottingham Forest have reportedly opened talks with Wolves as Vitor Pereira looks to reunite with Marshall Munetsi this summer.
Pereira is set to be backed by Evangelos Marinakis this summer after successfully avoiding relegation in 2025-26.
The Forest boss won eight of his 20 games in charge towards the end of the campaign after replacing Sean Dyche in February.
He will not have European football to contend with next term, but is still looking to shake up his squad to help improve Forest's league position.
The Reds are reportedly in talks with Wolves to sign Zimbabwe midfielder Munetsi, with Pereira having signed him for the Molineux outfit last January.
He spent the second half of 2025-26 out on loan with new Ligue 1 side Paris FC and impressed to help them finish 11th.
Pereira's previous comments about the 29-year-old clearly point to him being the driving force behind a move to sign him this summer.
What did Vitor Pereira say about Marshall Munetsi during their time at Wolves?
Munetsi made a real impact upon arrival at Wolves midway through the 2024-25 season, after they paid Reims around £16million for his services.
He became an instant starter and registered key goal contributions against Bournemouth and Everton, with Pereira heaping praise on his impact in February.
The Portuguese boss said: "He is a transition midfielder, box to box. He has the power to go in our box, to defend, and after a second to be in the other box. This is something that we need in this team."
Pereira then insisted in April that Munetsi was the driving force behind the strong form of Jorgen Strand Larsen, saying: "Do you know why Larsen is playing better now? Because of Munetsi. Munetsi now is playing close to him, opens the space for him and helps him to play and attack the space.
"The markers, they go with him and open the space. His adaptation in the Premier League is getting better, but because now we put a player behind him, creating space, attacking space, helping him in the first ball and the second ball...this is why Jorgen is doing better and better."
Following a draw away at Tottenham in September, Pereira again praised Munetsi by saying: "Munetsi, I tell you…when we look for footballers, technique is one thing, but football is not only about technique. Football is about tactical spirit, physicality; Munetsi is like an animal. Running and running and running."
French outlet Jeunes Footeux have reported that Paris have decided against signing him permanently despite a strong loan spell in Ligue 1, with Forest now advancing in talks with Wolves.
Strand Larsen quotes should help Forest in Jean-Philippe Mateta pursuit
Sources have revealed to Football Insider that Forest are keen on signing Mateta this summer as he looks to leave Crystal Palace.
The Eagles signed Strand Larsen from Wolves in January as a long-term replacement for the Frenchman due to their similar profiles.
Strand Larsen struck up a strong relationship with Munetsi during their time at Wolves, and praised his performances alongside Pereira last year.
He said: "I think Marshall has done an amazing job since he came here. He put down so many kilometres, he's running and he's fighting for every ball. Not everything can be perfect, you can't hold every ball up, you're playing against really big, strong defenders every time. He's working a lot around me, that gives me sometimes the energy to finish off the chances and he's nice to have around."
If Forest do sign Munetsi soon, then surely Mateta would have a better chance of success at the City Ground playing ahead of the ex-Wolves man.
