Liam Delap is facing extended spell on Nottingham Forest sidelines
Liam Delap will consider himself lucky if he starts Nottingham Forest's next fixture after his display at Selhurst Park.
The English striker was highly coveted throughout the summer, with Oliver Glasner's side ultimately winning the race.
Over the last four fixtures, Delap has emerged as the Austrian's number one choice at striker, starting all four of those games.
The 23-year-old had managed to net one goal throughout, but his recent showing against Crystal Palace brought plenty of concerns.
Ultimately, he struggled to make his presence in the game known, and proved to be incredibly wasteful.
With those competing for his place at the City Ground likely to be rubbing their hands, as Glasner cannot be happy with what he saw.
How Liam Delap struggled for Nottingham Forest at Crystal Palace
Delap was barely in the game against Crystal Palace, but the striker did have his chances to help his side.
However, in truth, his selection in the Nottingham Forest starting lineup turned out to be an overall net negative.
As per FotMob, no player who started the match had fewer touches than Delap's 20.
Additionally, he squandered two big chances for the Tricky Trees, which equated to 0.9 xG.
One of the more worrying stats to emerge from the match, though, was his 38 per cent passing accuracy.
Delap only attempted 13 passes, with just five coming off successfully.
For a forward known for his physicality, he struggled to effectively hold the ball up and allow his teammates to push on.
Glasner was clearly frustrated with what he saw on the pitch, with the Englishman hooked off after 72 minutes for Chris Wood.
Chris Wood deserves a run in the Nottingham Forest team
Wood was handed the chance to change the game for Nottingham Forest, and the New Zealand international almost made an immediate impact.
Shortly after coming on, he forced an incredible save from Palace goalkeeper Walter Benitez, which on another day could have resulted in a goal.
After Delap's performance, there was little the 34-year-old could do to make things worse.
Forest will now have to gather themselves together after back-to-back defeats, with the Tricky Trees still on one win this season.
And with Arsenal looming on 18 October, Glasner will have to rethink his selections as the performance against the Eagles was far from impressive.
If not, it could very well be three defeats in a row for the Nottingham Forest manager.
