Morgan Gibbs-White sends 10-word message as Wolves transfer agreed
Morgan Gibbs-White has shared his excitement after Wolves announced that Raul Jimenez has returned to the club on a two-year contract, with the option for an additional year.
The 35-year-old spent four years at Molineux between 2019 and 2023 before joining Fulham, where he has spent the last three years.
Jimenez already had cult hero status at Wolves, and his return to the club following relegation to the Championship is set to make for a potentially brilliant story.
Rob Edwards' side spent almost the entirety of the season at the bottom of the Premier League, but the arrivals of the veteran striker and Kieran Trippier have indicated a clear desire to come straight back up.
Jimenez will lead Mexico at the World Cup this summer before returning to Wolves for a first Championship season of his career, having scored nine in the top flight this season.
Gibbs-White, who spent his youth career and breakthrough with Wolves before joining Nottingham Forest in 2022, was among those to comment on the move.
Morgan Gibbs-White sends Raul Jimenez message
The decision that saw Gibbs-White miss out on a spot in Thomas Tuchel's World Cup squad is one that has caused plenty of debate.
The midfielder's Nottingham Forest form has been staggeringly good, with Ollie Watkins representing the only Englishman to better his 15 Premier League goals this season.
The inclusion of the likes of Eberechi Eze, Jordan Henderson and Noni Madueke over the 26-year-old appears, on paper, to be a brutally unfair one.
It may even be a contributing factor if Gibbs-White decides to leave the City Ground this summer.
Links to the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea have started to bubble, with the 26-year-old having just two years remaining on his contract.
He took to Instagram on Tuesday night to share his excitement at the Jimenez news, and commented: "Legend of the club no one can say anything else".
Jimenez to go down among the greats
When all is said and done, Jimenez will be remembered as an incredibly impressive striker.
His highlight season came in the 2019/20 campaign, when he scored 17 Premier League goals as Wolves remarkably finished seventh.
The Mexican was on course for another brilliant season when a horrible collision with David Luiz in 2020 saw him suffer a skull fracture.
But it speaks to Jimenez's resilience that he found his way back from such a harrowing injury to enjoy three superb seasons for Fulham, and that he has now found his way back to Wolves.
With the World Cup and a Championship season upcoming for the 35-year-old, there is little sign of him slowing down yet.
