Neco Williams reacts as Nottingham Forest confirm Willy Boly exit
Neco Williams has reacted to news of Nottingham Forest teammate Willy Boly officially leaving the club this summer.
Forest took to social media on Wednesday to officially confirm their retained list for the 2026-27 campaign.
Thirty-five-year-old centre-back Boly was left off the list as he nears the end of his contract at the City Ground, with the club later posting a special message to him upon news of his impending departure.
Forest posted a series of images of his time at the City Ground on Instagram alongside the caption: "A leader on and off the pitch. Grateful for your contributions, Willy."
Their post was liked by several Reds stars, such as Jair Cunha, Arnaud Kalimuendo, Ola Aina and Neco Williams, who has been linked with leaving the club this summer too.
The Welsh full-back picked up Forest's Player of the Season award for his outstanding performances throughout 2025-26.
He has attracted interest from several Premier League clubs ahead of the summer window as a result, but it remains to be seen if he will follow Boly out of the City Ground in the coming months.
Willy Boly's Nottingham Forest career in numbers
Boly will leave Forest this summer having featured 47 times for the club since joining from Wolves in September 2022.
He scored his first goal for the club against his old side in January 2023 during their Carabao Cup quarter-final clash that saw the Reds advance to the semis on penalties.
The Ivorian featured 15 times in his first season in the East Midlands, then played 21 games in 2023-24 during his last campaign as a regular in their backline.
Injuries have affected his last two seasons at Forest, with nine appearances in 2024-25 and just two throughout 2025-26.
Boly's final Reds start came against Swansea in the Carabao Cup last September, as he played the full 90 minutes in a shock 3-2 defeat.
What is the latest on Williams' own contract situation at Forest?
Sources have revealed to Football Insider that the Reds want to tie Ibrahim Sangare down to a new deal in the face of interest from Man United.
It is no different with Wales star Williams, who is not out of contract until 2029 but is still set to be offered a new deal soon.
BBC Sport's Sami Mokbel recently reported that Forest have opened discussions over an improved contract for Williams because Newcastle, Aston Villa, Manchester United and Everton are each targeting him this summer.
