Nottingham Forest fans will love what Luciano Spalletti has said about Davide Frattesi as new move eyed
Nottingham Forest have been told exactly why they should sign Inter Milan star Davide Frattesi by top Italian manager Luciano Spalletti.
Vitor Pereira is keen to bolster his midfield ranks this summer amid uncertainty around several Forest players' futures.
Elliot Anderson is widely expected to move on for a hefty fee, while Ibrahim Sangare and Morgan Gibbs-White have both also been linked with moves away.
Inter midfielder Frattesi has been on their radar ahead of the summer window after struggling for game time throughout 2025-26.
Rumours around a move for the Italy international had quietened following initial links, but Gianluca Di Marzio has reported in recent days that the Reds remain keen on his services..
Frattesi has not been a regular for Inter over the last 12 months, but is a fully-fledged international and has played over 150 times in Serie A at 26-years-old.
He clearly needs a fresh challenge and would be a shrewd signing for Forest, with previous praise from a top manager in Spalletti proving why they should accelerate a move.
Spalletti handed Frattesi 23 of his 34 Italy caps to date while he was the manager of the national team between 2023 and 2025.
He took the Inter midfielder to Euro 2024 and started him in three of the Azzurri's four games at the tournament.
Prior to the competition, the Italy boss explained why he had so much faith in Frattesi despite the depth available to him in midfield.
He said: "With the intensity and quality he has, he can really get at opposition defensive lines. He has the sense of curiosity to go out and attack. If he keeps working hard he can get even better. He has infinite quality."
Spalletti went on to praise Frattesi later in 2024, saying: "Even when he doesn’t get himself into the attacking moves, he gets through a lot of work for the team. He helps the team to win superiority.
"He has the ability to get himself into the final third. He’s always being found in the right place at the right time. He is an important player for us."
It is very clear that the 26-year-old has real talent that simply needs to be unlocked by a manager who is willing to give him regular minutes.
Vitor Pereira's renewed interest points to him feeling like he can get the best out of Frattesi, so Forest should be accelerating a move ahead of the window.
Which of Forest's current midfielders could leave the club this summer?
Frattesi is a box-to-box midfielder who can also play as a number 10, so would be covering multiple positions in Pereira's 4-2-3-1 system at the City Ground.
He certainly sounds like the kind of player they need to sign, especially as Man City push to sign England star Anderson with a new bid submitted worth over £120million.
Sources have exclusively revealed to Football Insider that Forest will do everything they can to keep hold of Gibbs-White as Arsenal remain keen on a move.
Recent reports have claimed that Man United are keen on Sangare, but the Reds are keen to hand him a new contract to ward off interest.
