Nottingham Forest are clearly planning to sell Murillo this summer as they actively seek to sign a left-sided centre-back to replace him in their backline.

Murillo remained a key man for Forest during the 2025-26 campaign but was unable to replicate his top form from the previous season.

The Brazilian centre-back had won plaudits throughout 2024-25 as he made 36 league appearances to help the Reds' finish seventh.

He struggled with some injury issues that restricted him to 25 top flight outings last season, but was still a regular in their run to the Europa League semi-finals.

Forest recently tied Murillo down to a new contract amid ongoing interest in his services, but that seems like it was only done to prepare for an exit, following a new report.

Nottingham Forest are already searching for Murillo's replacement

Murillo is still only 23, yet has made over 100 appearances for Forest since joining from Corinthians in August 2023.

His fine form at the City Ground has earned international recognition, with a maiden Brazil cap coming last March, but he has not worked his way into this summer's World Cup squad.

Many Forest fans will have thought that Murillo's future was cleared up when he put pen to paper on a new four-year contract extension last month.

It seems as if the move was not to actually tie his future at the club down, however, with the Daily Mail reporting that the Reds are still "expecting" offers for Murillo this summer.

The same report even claims that Forest are "actively looking for a left-sided centre back who could replace the 23-year-old" this summer.

It is pretty obvious that they expect him to move on, which is certain to annoy Forest fans after the new contract pointed to him committing his future to the club.

Who else could leave Forest this summer?

Sources have exclusively revealed to Football Insider that Forest will only accept a "silly offer" for Murillo this summer, so it is not as if they will let him leave on the cheap to a top team.

Elliot Anderson is another top Forest talent who looks likely to move on, with Man City and Man United tussling to land his signature over the coming weeks.

Arnaud Kalimuendo was mentioned in the Mail's report as looking set to move on permanently following a loan spell at Eintracht Frankfurt.

One Reds star who is not expected to leave this summer is James McAtee, according to the same report, with Vitor Pereira making him part of his plans for next term.
