Nottingham Forest 'need to sell' as Man City 'confident' of Elliot Anderson deal - Stefan Borson
Nottingham Forest may have no choice but to cash in on Elliot Anderson amid interest from Manchester City.
That is according to former Manchester City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider that the "enormous" profit will be too much for Forest to turn down this summer.
The Citizens have already seen an opening offer for the 23-year-old turned down, with the player understandably focusing on the 2026 World Cup, his first major tournament with the Three Lions.
It is unknown exactly how much the FA Cup champions offered in their opening bid, but it is expected that they return with a much more valuable one before the window closes.
Nottingham Forest to make 'enormous' profit on Elliot Anderson
Figures have ranged anywhere between £80million and £120million for the England international's signature, and Borson can't see a deal for much over £70million as a base fee.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson said: "It's not a competitive situation, right? It looks like City got a clear run, so that tempers the price a little bit, but it doesn't look like there is a release clause.
"I mean City have been confident all the way through, which sort of made me think, how could they be so confident unless they knew there was a release clause? But there doesn't seem to be.
"How keen are Forest to sell? I think Forest do need to sell. I think they will want to sell. This is a massive, massive profit for them. He's probably on the books now for about £10million, maybe even less, so the profit is enormous.
"We don't know what City offered. Apparently they've had a first bid rejected. I bet it was £70m plus £10m, or £70m plus £5m. So realistic enough to be a starting point, but easy to reject."
Who else could Vitor Pereira lose this summer?
The Reds appear resigned to losing Anderson to Man City this summer, and he is unlikely to be the only player who fields offers.
Murillo has squashed rumours around his future after putting pen to paper on a new deal, but Neco Williams is almost expected to leave.
Forest's Player of the Season is attracting attention from Premier League rivals, while Morgan Gibbs-White is just as likely to catch the eye this summer.
Despite rumours about an early exit, Vitor Pereira is expected to put more trust in James McAtee next season, which would pour cold water over any potential deals.
