Nottingham Forest to buy 'three more players' soon

Evangelos Marinakis is far from done in the summer transfer market as Nottingham Forest close in on a deal for Ousmane Diomande.

That is according to former Manchester City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider that Forest have spent a "fortune" in previous windows, and this year will be no different.

Xaver Schlager is the Reds' only confirmed signing so far, joining as a free agent following the expiration of his contract at Bundesliga giants RB Leipzig.

Sporting CP's Diomande is believed to be close to an agreement at the City Ground, and a £34.1million deal would see him become the club's most expensive defender signing.

That is what Fabrizio Romano has reported as the transfer fee this summer, and, understandably, fans are excited about what's next for their club.

Of course, losing Elliot Anderson to Man City has been a huge blow, but the £116m transfer fee is expected to be reinvested ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.

Oliver Glasner could welcome another three new faces

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson revealed that he expects more signings at the City Ground before the summer window slams shut.

"Nottingham Forest has spent a fortune over last few years. So, this is not unusual for them to have big summers," he said.

"Clearly it's also, this year, underwritten by the sale of Anderson. They've got a number of really good players and Anderson's a big loss, clearly.

"But I would expect them to keep buying, and buy two or three players. They're doing the right thing. They've got the ambition.

"They've got a an owner who's prepared to put money in, so he put in three lots of money over the last few months."

Who else could Nottingham Forest sign?

The goalkeeper situation at the City Ground could be seen as a concerning one, with only Matz Sels, 34, and John Victor, 30, in the squad.

Full-back also appears to be a position that Oliver Glasner wants to improve upon, and thanks to Anderson, there is money to spend.

Givairo Read and Dodo are both heavily linked with a switch to the Premier League, and either would provide competition for Ola Aina and Neco Williams.

Undoubtedly, filling the gap left by Anderson will be one of the biggest concerns, and someone like Lucas Bergvall would be a good fit for Glasner's team.

As Borson says, there is more than enough money available to spend, with Marinakis happy to invest at the City Ground, so Forest will be one to watch in the market.
