Nottingham Forest are preparing a bid for Monaco’s Lamine Camara as they aim to win the race for the defensive maestro.
Reports have emerged on Saturday that Crystal Palace have placed a bid for the 22-year-old defensive midfielder.
As a result, Oliver Glasner’s side are poised to submit an offer in the hope of beating their Premier League rivals to his signature.
Liverpool and Manchester United remain in the hunt, with Monaco placing a £42.9million price tag on Camara.
The Ligue 1 club need to sell one of its best players this summer, with Folarin Balogun and the Senegal international the top candidates.
Camara made 24 appearances in Ligue 1 last season and picked up seven goal contributions as the club finished seventh.

In comparison, Anderson averaged 0.11 goals, 0.11 assists, a 0.13 xA, 3.21 successful long balls with a 53.4 per cent overall accuracy rate, 1.46 chances created, 8.02 duels won with a 54.8 per cent overall win rate, 2.16 fouls won, 2.81 tackles won, 1.11 interceptions and 8.26 recoveries per 90 minutes in the Premier League.
With both players having very similar stats, Camara could therefore prove to be an excellent replacement for Anderson this summer.
However, Foot Mercato’s report makes it clear that the East Midlands club face a massive battle on their hands to win his signature, with plenty of Premier League clubs also eyeing the midfielder.
