Nottingham Forest cannot be held to ransom by Arnaud Kalimuendo after new exit 'development'
Nottingham Forest are looking to let Arnaud Kalimuendo go this summer transfer window after a dire first campaign at the City Ground.
Reports have suggested that Eintracht Frankfurt are keen to bring the striker back to the club on a permanent deal after a successful loan spell.
Kalimuendo is happy to go back to the Bundesliga club, but Frankfurt are not prepared to pay the option to buy in the loan deal.
Therefore, Forest must ensure that they are not held to ransom by Kalimuendo, who clearly has his heart set on a move back to the German side.
While the East Midlands club want to rid themselves of the 24-year-old, they are well within their rights to demand the £23.4million that is his current option to buy.
Kalimuendo did not score a single Premier League goal in nine appearances before he was shipped out to Frankfurt in the winter window.
Nottingham Forest should look at other potential buyers for Arnaud Kalimuendo
Despite Frankfurt’s current interest, Forest cannot get tunnel vision and must explore other options to sell the striker.
Any incoming funds could help the club bring in much-needed reinforcements, especially up top.
Therefore, with BILD reporting that Frankfurt currently unable to pay more than £17.3m, Forest should not hold back from looking at other potential destinations due to Kalimuendo’s wishes.
Hopefully, the situation will be sorted quickly, as the club looks to dramatically improve their attacking options this summer.
Which striker could Forest sign this summer?
Football Insider has exclusively revealed that Forest are ready to reignite their interest in Jean-Philippe Mateta this summer.
The Crystal Palace striker is out of contract next summer, and the club is prepared to cash in before he becomes a free agent.
Mateta's price tag has now dropped down to the £25million mark, and sources say that Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis is prepared to back Vitor Pereira to fund the addition.
The France international was close to leaving Selhurst Park before the end of the winter window, until the striker failed a medical at AC Milan.
However, it remains to be seen if Forest make a move for Mateta before the end of the summer transfer window as they look to finally solve their attacking issues.
