Nottingham Forest face Rolland Sallai re-think thanks to Nicolo Savona transfer news
Nottingham Forest are set to field surprise interest in right-back Nicolo Savona in the coming weeks, as speculation builds over a return to Italy.
The 23-year-old has been a bit-part player for the Reds in his first season after his move from Juventus, as he started just 11 games in the Premier League.
The Italian has been out of action since the end of January with a long-term knee injury, an issue that has allowed Ola Aina to regain his place on the right of the defence.
Savona hasn't had many opportunities to shine at the City Ground, but has emerged on the radar of Atalanta as a target this summer.
Vitor Pereira and Co. have been expecting significant interest in the likes of Elliot Anderson and Morgan Gibbs-White, but would perhaps not have had a plan in place for someone like Savona.
Nevertheless, with the youngster potentially weeks away from a departure, the East Midlands outfit will surely turn back to a right-back target of their own in Roland Sallai.
Nottingham Forest to entertain Nicolo Savona sale on one condition
Football Insider revealed at the end of May that Forest are lining up an "ambitious" move to prise Sallai away from Galatasaray in the coming months.
However, the Turkish giants are prepared to do "everything they can" to keep the Hungarian, and are not welcoming any offers for him.
Forest must now find a way of getting the Istanbul outfit to rethink their stance, given that Atalanta are following Savona "closely", according to Tutto Atalanta.
The Forest starlet could become part of a domino-effect this summer, with Atalanta viewing him as a potential replacement for Marco Palestra, who is wanted by several top European clubs.
Pereira and Co. may sense this as a chance to upgrade on Savona, with Sallai undoubtedly providing more experience.
However, if there is little evidence of the Reds being able to force Galatasaray into a change of heart regarding his future, then they should be prepared to play hard ball on Savona.
Murillo still up for sale at Nottingham Forest after new contract
Former Everton chief executive Keith Wyness recently told Football Insider that Murillo could still leave Nottingham Forest this summer, even after he signed a new contract.
The Scottish businessman made it clear that while there are no plans to move the defender on at the moment, every player at a football club is for sale if the price is right.
Wyness emphasised that it would take "silly" money for Forest to accept an offer for the 23-year-old ahead of next season, but was also keen to point out that it is not out of the question.
Forest have several key stars who could fetch eye-watering sums of money this summer, but with Anderson's exit looking likely, they won't want to lose all of their big names.
