Nottingham Forest set sights on Mauricio deal as price tag revealed – journalist
Nottingham Forest are believed to be in the race for Palmeiras ace Mauricio this summer transfer window to boost their attacking options.
The 25-year-old attacking midfielder is reportedly valued at between £18.7million and £22.3m.
Mauricio is a Paraguay international and was part of the 2026 World Cup squad that reached the round of 16 before they were knocked out by France.
Now, Oliver Glasner has identified the attacker as a potential option ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.
Mauricio made 30 appearances in all competitions for Palmeiras in the 2026 campaign and netted four times and picked up two assists.
This helped the Brazilian club lift the Campeonato Paulista title.
Nottingham Forest set for battle for Mauricio
Nottingham Forest have commonly dipped into the Brazilian markets in recent times.
The East Midlands club has signed players such as Jair Cunha and Murillo from the South American nation in recent years as they search for a potential bargain.
Now, according to Diego Firmino, Forest could repeat this trick with Mauricio.
The Tricky Trees are one of the clubs interested in the attacking midfielder, and could face a battle for his signature.
Palmeiras hold 85 per cent of the player’s economic rights, and it remains to be seen how this could affect a potential transfer to England.
How good is Mauricio?
Mauricio’s stats in the Brazilian top-flight are certainly mixed.
According to Fotmob on 10 July, in the 2026 campaign, he averaged 0.10 goals, a 0.23 xG, 2.10 shots, 0.10 assists, a 57.1 per cent successful dribble rate, 2.48 touches in the opposition box and 3.15 defensive contributions per 90 minutes.
As a result, while it is clear that his attacking input is low, he can help out defensively when needed.
Therefore, Glasner may be thinking of playing Mauricio deeper in midfield to help increase his defensive responsibilities.
However, his attacking output should not be overlooked, with the 25-year-old netting in the World Cup against the USA during the 4-1 loss.
Nevertheless, it remains to be seen if Forest will bring in Mauricio this summer as they look to once again find a bargain in South America to boost their position in the Premier League table.
