Sources: Liam Delap undergoing Nottingham Forest medical after agreement

Liam Delap is set to undergo a medical at Nottingham Forest on Wednesday after agreeing to move from Chelsea, sources have told Football Insider.

The two clubs have finalised a £50million deal for the 23-year-old, with the medical the final obstacle ahead of the transfer going through.

The frontman is set to travel to Nottingham on Wednesday to complete his final checks, and no issues are expected as the deal reaches its conclusion.

Chelsea have been trying to offload the youngster in recent weeks, and Forest have won the race for his signature.

Oliver Glasner has been keen to see his frontline strengthened, and the East Midlands outfit have now got their man.

The Reds have fought off competition from the likes of Everton and Leeds to land Delap, who is set for his second move in consecutive summers.

Nottingham Forest ready to revitalise Liam Delap

Delap had fallen out of favour at Chelsea, having struggled to make an impact after moving to Stamford Bridge last summer.

The starlet managed just one goal from 28 Premier League appearances for the West Londoners, but is now set to take on a new challenge.

Forest will be hoping to help Delap return to the goalscoring form that saw him net 12 goals for a relegated Ipswich Town side back in 2024-25.

The Reds were among several clubs who were chasing his signature after that impressive goal return, but ultimately lost out to Chelsea.

However, they have gone one better and won the race this time around, and are now on the verge of adding Delap to their group.

The former Derby County youngster is set to return to the East Midlands for the first time since he left the Rams' academy for Manchester City back in 2019.

Delap backed to 'thrive' at Forest

Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider earlier this week that he expects Delap to "thrive" in his new surroundings at the City Ground.

The ex-recruitment boss made it clear that he always felt that Chelsea was the "wrong move" for the starlet, and never expected it to work out for him.

However, he believes that Forest can provide him with the "support" and "patience" needed for him to flourish in the coming years and realise his potential.

Delap is likely to viewed as the first-choice striker for the Reds, who are hoping to have a more positive season in 2026-27.
