Sources: Nottingham Forest face 'real possibility' of £42.5m clause being triggered

AC Milan have the financial power to turn their loan signing of Nottingham Forest winger Omari Hutchinson into a permanent deal, sources have told Football Insider.

The Italian giants have the option to buy the 22-year-old as part of their current agreement for £42.5million, but will not rush into any decisions regarding his future.

Ruben Amorim's side are aware that it will take a "big outlay" for them to sign their loanee long-term, but it is understood that there is a "real possibility" of them doing the deal if Hutchinson makes an impact.

The wideman recently earned his first start for his new club in the Europa League, but was substituted at half-time in their home defeat to Benfica.

Hutchinson is one of several Forest players who are out on loan at the moment, having not impressed Oliver Glasner during pre-season.

The former Chelsea starlet is now playing outside England for the first time in his career, but it has been a difficult start for him so far.

Forest made Hutchinson their club-record signing when they splashed out £37.5million to sign him from Ipswich last summer, but it hasn't gone to plan for him at all.

The starlet has never truly found form at the City Ground, and managed just one goal and five assists in the Premier League last term.

However, despite his struggles, Forest now have the opportunity to potentially make a small profit on him if he impresses at Milan.

The Reds will undoubtedly be paying close attention to how the loanee performs in the coming months, to gauge whether their own transfer budget is likely to receive a boost for next summer.

The early signs from Hutchinson's spell at the San Siro have not been positive, but there is plenty of time for him to flip the script with Milan.

Oliver Glasner could be sacked 'at any moment'

Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider on Monday that Glasner could be sacked by Forest "at any moment" after a rocky start.

The ex-recruitment boss pointed towards the "volatile" atmosphere at the City Ground with owner Evangelos Marinakis, and feels that Glasner's "combative" nature could cause issues.

Forest handed the Austrian a hugely lucrative contract in the summer, but they have won just one of their opening five Premier League games.

The East Midlands outfit aren't meeting expectations at the moment, and that is putting Glasner under pressure in turn.
