Who is Givairo Read? Nottingham Forest submit bid for defender who matched Wesley Sneijder
Givairo Read appears to be a force to be reckoned with, and that will be why Nottingham Forest are so serious about signing him.
Oliver Glasner's side have already seen a £15million bid rejected by Feyenoord for the talented right-back, just weeks into the window.
Ola Aina is currently first-choice at the City Ground, with very little competition in the position due to Neco Williams starring on the opposite flank.
Read could add some much-needed depth to the right flank, and Forest are expected to return to the table with another offer very soon.
That is according to Fabrizio Romano, who first broke the news of the Reds' initial offer, and supporters at the City Ground will be keen to know exactly who they might sign.
Given that Read has matched one of football's most likeable playmakers, Forest's forwards will be chomping at the bit to be teammates with him.
Givairo Read has already attracted the attention of two Dutch legends
Back in 2003, at 19 years of age, Wesley Sneijder grabbed three assists in a single Eredivisie game, kick-starting his career in the Netherlands.
Then, in March 2025, at 18 years and 287 days old, Read notched three of his own in Feyenoord's 6-2 victory against Enschede, becoming the first player in 22 years to achieve the same feat as Sneijder.
Read managing this from right-back makes the achievement all the more impressive, and showcases exactly why he would bring to the City Ground.
The young gem already has Champions League experience under his belt, with half a century of appearances for Feyenoord, and moving just steps away from a senior international call-up.
In fact, during Robin van Persie's reign at De Kuip, he went from an academy star to the Arsenal legend's captain, seeing him quickly rise through the ranks.
Who could challenge Forest for the full-back's signature?
Multiple clubs are likely to be keeping tabs on the 20-year-old, which will be a cause for concern at the City Ground.
But thus far, it would appear that Forest are the only club to have made a real approach to sign him, albeit their bid was quickly rejected this summer.
Bayern Munich are probably the biggest names interested in sealing the full-back's signature ahead of the Reds, but no move has been made.
The player has already revealed that he models his playing style on Denzel Dumfries', who has just earned a dream move to Real Madrid ahead of next season.
