Stan Collymore has emphatically rejected the notion that Aston Villa attacker Jack Grealish should be getting on the plane to Russia in the summer as part of England’s World Cup squad.
Grealish, 22, is arguably in the best form he ever has been for Villa this season as Steve Bruce’s men mount a serious challenge for promotion back to the Premier League.
That has led to some fans wondering whether Gareth Southgate could include him in his 23-man squad for the World Cup this year.
However Collymore has blasted that idea, saying on his personal Twitter account that Grealish is “nowhere near” earning a call-up.
Hi Stan has Jack Grealish a outside chance to get on that plane to Russia

Grealish has made 18 appearances in all competitions for Aston Villa this term, scoring one goal and supplying four assists.
The Telegraph has reported that the former England Under-21 international is earning £21,000-a-week on his current wages at Villa Park.
Football Insider verdict
Grealish is probably a player that Southgate has not even given a though to as he mulls over his World Cup squad for the summer. England have a lot of attacking talent that will bound to be on show in Russia and a player who has only just started to show any kind of consistency should not be on his mind. Grealish had a lot of potential but he failed to reach it after a couple of injury setbacks and his lifestyle choices that have seen him grab headlines for all the wrong reasons. He is playing well at the moment, but this is in the Championship. It’s no comparison to what some players are doing in the Premier League.
