A section of Newcastle supports are calling for the club to keep winger Matt Ritchie after a report linked the 28-year-old with a move away from the club.

The Chronicle report that Stoke City, Middlesbrough and Bournemouth are keen on signing the Scotland international.

They reveal that Mike Ashley has put a £15million price-tag on Ritchie this summer, despite him being an important player at St.James Park.

One supporter said that Ritchie has been one of Newcastle’s better players and that, in his opinion, it would make no sense to sell him.

Football Insider has rounded up the best tweets from a section of Newcastle United supporters about potentially selling Ritchie:

Football Insider verdict:

The Newcastle fans are bang on, it would be madness to sell Matt Ritchie and it would be madness for Ritchie to want to go! The £15million price that has been quoted is low in comparison with other signings in the market, that wouldn’t be enough to adequately replace the Scot unless they see him as surplus to requirements at St. James Park. It would be a very weird decision to sell the 28-year-old after he featured so regularly for the club and helped them achieve their impressive 10th place Premier League finish last season. However, with Mike Ashley, money talks, so he could be tempted to sell should the price be right.
