The odds have been slashed to 1/5 on Turkish club Besiktas winning the race ahead of Leeds United to sign prolific Spanish striker Alvaro Negredo this summer, according to bookmakers.
Sky Bet priced Besiktas as runaway favourites on Tuesday night to land the forward, 31, before the transfer window shuts at the end of next month.
They are now well ahead of Leeds and Premier League club Swansea in the Negredo betting following a shift in the market in the last 48 hours.
Besiktas have been backed in from 4/6 on Sunday to land the prolific former Manchester City and Middlesbrough player.
Leeds have signed attacking players Samuel Saiz, Ezgkan Alioski and Caleb Ekuban to offer more support to spearhead Chris Wood but it has been reported by the Mirror in recent days they have made progress in a sensational attempt to sign Negredo from Valencia.
Negredo, who has two more years remaining on his contract with the La Liga outfit, has an eyecatching record in both English and Spanish football despite being part of the Boro side that was relegated last season.
He scored 23 goals in 49 matches during his one City campaign in 2013-14 and has netted 111 times in 264 La Liga appearances.
In 21 Spain internationals, he has also struck 10 times.
In other Leeds transfer news, a left-back has headed to Elland Road as he aims to secure a permanent transfer from top-flight club.
