Liverpool have been installed as the favourites to sign Manchester United winger Memphis Depay.
The Holland international had his odds slashed from 7/2 to 7/4 by betting company Ladbrokes on Wednesday afternoon to make a sensational move to Anfield.
Liverpool are rated the favourites to land Depay just 12 months after he joined United from PSV Eindhoven in a £25million move.
They are followed by Leicester, Stoke City and PSV, who are all 10/1 to swoop for the Moordrecht native this summer.
No player has transferred between Liverpool and United since Phil Chisnall went from Manchester to Merseyside in 1964.
It is unclear whether new boss Jose Mourinho is willing to axe the £25million star so early on in his tenure as United manager but the Portguese boss may decide to cash in on Depay if a sizeable offer was tabled this summer.
Liverpool have already completed the signings of Sadio Mane, Loris Karius, Marko Grujic and Joel Matip in the current transfer window but it would amount to a sensational move if they were to open the chequebook for player from Old Trafford.
The former PSV Eindhoven wide man is contracted to the Red Devils until 2019 with a possibility of a year’s extension until 2020.
In other Liverpool trasnsfer news, the Merseysiders have clinched a defender deal.
