Chelsea are confident Mason Mount will sign a new long-term contract after a breakthrough in talks, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

The England star has been linked with Man City, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich in recent weeks amid speculation he is not happy at Stamford Bridge.

A Chelsea source has told Football Insider that the club are in talks with Mount, 22, and all parties are positive the deal on the table will now be accepted.

He has been offered a new and improved deal by the Champions League holders to replace his existing agreement expiring in the summer of 2024.

Mount is valued at the £70m mark by Chelsea, the source added.

He made his return to Thomas Tuchel's starting XI in the 3-0 win over Leicester City at the weekend.

It was his first start since he scored his maiden senior hat-trick in the 7-0 thumping of Norwich City just under a month ago.

After his emergence under Frank Lampard during the 2019-20 campaign, the attacker has remained a key player under Tuchel.

He started last season's Champions League final victory over Man City and provided the assist for the only goal of the game.

Mount ended the season with nine goals and nine assists in 54 games across all competitions domestically.

He was also a key part of Gareth Southgate's England side that reached the European Championship final.

The Portsmouth-born star's 120 Chelsea games across all competitions have yielded 20 goals and 17 assists.

He enjoyed loan spells with Vitesse Arnhem and Lampard's Derby County before making his breakthrough at Stamford Bridge just over two years ago.
