Ola Aina is happy to stay at Nottingham Forest with talks ongoing over a new contract, sources have told Football Insider.

Football Insider revealed on Monday (25 November) that Forest are confident of agreeing a new deal with the 28-year-old defender.

Aina's current deal is set to expire at the end of the 2024-25 campaign but sources say there is a "willingness from all parties" to extend his City Ground stay with a bumper, long-term deal.

Talks have been ongoing for a while and Forest are doing everything they can to keep the defensive star at the club past the end of this season.

Aina has become a key man for Nuno Espirito Santo and has seen off strong competition in the full-back areas.

He is now one of the first names on the team sheet for Forest, starting all 12 of their league games this term.

The Nigeria international has only failed to play the full 90 minutes on two occasions in the Premier League this term.

Aina originally joined Forest on a one-year deal last year (2023) and Forest exercised the option to extend his deal earlier in 2024.

The Chelsea academy product primarily plays at right-back but can also line up on the left side of the defence - and did so for the first three games of this season.

He has been capped 40 times by Nigeria and has been a regular for his country in Africa Cup of Nations qualifying.

Forest sit seventh in the Premier League and are next in action against Ipswich on Saturday (30 November).
