Olivier Giroud enjoyed an incredible return to Premier League action against Sunderland on Saturday afternoon and took to Twitter after the game to exclaim, "Such a good feeling to be back!"

The French striker came on for Alex Iwobi in the 69th minute, with the match poised at 1-1, and proceeded to score with his first two touches of the ball.

Alexis Sanchez added another, and his second of the game, in the 78th minute as Arsenal demolished a sorry Sunderland team 4-1 at the Stadium of Light.

Giroud posted a message on his personal Twitter account after the game , hailing the character of his team and posting a celebratory picture.

The two goals were Giroud's first this season after a stuttering start and marked his intent for the future.

Giroud has struggled for game time since having an extended break after Euro 2016 and suffering an injury that had limited him to three cameo appearances totalling 51 minutes before Saturday's game.

With Lucas Perez out injured until December, his form will give Arsene Wenger a good selection headache, with important fixtures on the horizon.

Arsenal face Ludogorets away in the Champions League on Tuesday before hosting rivals Tottenham at the Emirates in the Premier League.

Arsenal's fast start to the season has seen them remain unbeaten since the opening day defeat against Liverpool, and they are currently on 23 points, level with leaders Manchester City but behind on goal difference.

Man City also put four past their opponents as they beat West Brom 4-0. Liverpool are also on 23 points after beating Crystal Palace 4-2 and are in third place, behind Arsenal.
