Alan Hutton admits he cannot wait to see Gareth Bale return to action for Tottenham against West Ham on Sunday.
The former Spurs and Scotland defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, has been left raving over what he has seen from his former teammate on the training ground via the 31-year-old’s Instagram account.
Football Insider understands that the Wales international is in line to return to the bench for the first time since rejoining the club this weekend.
The winger has recovered from the knee injury he was carrying when he returned to north London and has been phased back into the first-team setup by Jose Mourinho.
With Bale set to pull on the Tottenham shirt once again, Hutton admits he is buzzing to see his old teammate back in the Premier League.
Hutton told Football Insider: “I’ve seen all the Instagram clips in training and he looks on fire, he looks hungry if I’m honest, he looks really happy, he’s smiling, he’s joking, he’s training hard by all accounts.
“He’s a player I think is absolutely fantastic, I was lucky enough to play alongside him and against him. Everyone will be desperate.
“What a lift, they’re playing so good at the moment so to imagine playing that well plus having the ability to bring him on or, when he’s up to full speed, playing, I think it’s great for everybody.
“It’s great for the league, it’s great for the club so I’m really looking forward to seeing him playing and hopefully he can hit the heights we know he can because it’d be absolutely fantastic.”
Bale, who has signed for Tottenham on a season-long loan, left north London for Real Madrid back in 2013.
He is set to battle it out with the likes of Heung-min Son, Lucas Moura, Erik Lamela, Steven Bergwijn and Dele Alli for a place in the Spurs attack.
