Darren Bent gushed about Wolves goalkeeper Rui Patricio and claimed he is easily one of the best keepers in the Premier League.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Laura O’Leary, the former Premier League striker admitted that he had always been a big fan of Patricio and shared he was surprised the shot-stopper was at Wolves.
The 31-year-old keeper made his 29th appearance of the season on Friday by starting the 3-2 loss to Manchester City.
Bent explained that he believes Wolves are getting better and better every year and shared it would be brilliant if the club kept hold of Patricio for the foreseeable future.
When asked if Patricio is among the best keepers in the Premier League, Bent told Football Insider: “Yeah easily, he is one of the best in the league.
“I’m surprised that one or two of those Wolves player are still down there, but Wolves are playing really really well and going about their business.
“So yeah the goalkeeper, I’ve always been a big fan of his, it did surprise me they managed to get him and that he is still there.
“But for Wolves, he has been fantastic and he is arguably one of the best keepers in the Premier League in the last couple of years.
“And to be fair his rise goes hand in hand with Wolves, they’re getting better and better every year so if they can hold onto him, it would be brilliant.”
Patricio has conceded 33 goals in the 29 appearances he has made this season, while also racking up eight clean sheets.
The Portugal international joined Nuno Espirito Santo’s side in July 2018 and is contracted to stay at the Molineux until June 2022.
In other Wolves news, Danny Mills admitted he was entirely convinced by an attacker who clearly has potential.
