Shining light: Brendan Rodgers raves about attacker as he nears Celtic switch

Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that Charly Musonda is set to join Celtic on an 18 month loan deal.
The Hoops boss revealed the news as reported by Clyde Superscoreboard reporter Ronnie Charteris on his Twitter account.
Rodgers claimed that up to 24 clubs were interested in signing the 21-year-old and that he is “one of the shining lights in the Chelsea Academy”. Rodgers – who was once the reserve team manager at Chelsea – also thanked the London club for allowing the deal to go through.

Musonda may make his Hoops debut against Hearts on Tuesday, in a match which will see the Bhoys out for revenge against the only team to have defeated them in the league so far this season.
Football Insider verdict
This deal seems like a massive coup for Brendan Rodgers and the Hoops board. To get a player that 24 teams are interested in signing on an 18 month loan deal seems like good news for all parties involved in the transfer. The Hoops will get a player who is desperate to play first-team football, Musonda will get the chance to prove himself as a player and Chelsea will hope the player returns to London first-team ready. A debut against Hearts for the new signing would be a big boost for a Hoops support reeling from the injuries suffered by Craig Gordon and Leigh Griffiths in the win over Hibernian.
