Paul Robinson heaped praise on Aston Villa playmaker Jack Grealish and shared that he was showing great mental strength in order to deal with the pressure on him.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Laura O’Leary, the former England No.1 admitted that when Grealish isn’t playing, Dean Smith’s side don’t perform.

The 24-year-old started Villa’s 2-1 win over Watford on Tuesday but it was teammates Douglas Luiz and Tyrone Mings who got on the scoresheet for Villa on this occasion.

Robinson explained that due to the Villans being like a different team when Grealish was able to play, he credited the midfielder for doing his part to help the team rack up points in the Premier League.

When asked if Grealish is proving that he is a phenomenal talent as he’s showing great mental strength to deal with the pressure on him at Villa Park, Robinson told Football Insider: “Yeah, he has been outstanding.

“Aston Villa are a different team when he plays and you’d credit him with a lot of the points that they’ve won.

“Nine goals, six assists, he is very key to what they do, without him they don’t perform.

“And he’s still only young as he’s still only 24-years-old.”

The English playmaker has played 25 times across all competitions for Smith’s side this season, scoring nine goals and registering six assists in the process.

Grealish is contracted to stay with the Villans until 2023, with his last contract extension coming in September 2018.
