Everton fans have taken to Twitter following Tom Davies shocking performance in the Merseyside derby on Sunday.

Sam Allardyce had seen enough at the 45-minute mark, and decided to sub him off in place of Premier League veteran Aaron Lennon at half time.

Davies, who has looked promising during the early stages of his career, has failed to impress in recent weeks, and today was no exception.

The young English midfielder has been with Everton since 2009 where he joined the youth system from Tranmere Rovers.

Aged only 19, Davies has already earned 38 first team appearances, but not all Everton fans are convinced.

Davies has represented England from all levels starting at Under 16s all the way to Under 21s, and would have featured for the young Lions during their triumphant under 19s European Championships this summer if it weren’t for Everton requesting he be rested.

But that is not enough to earn a place in the Everton first team, with fans calling for him to take some time away, and perhaps that may inspire Davies to get his career back on track.

Everton did mount a comeback in the second half, claiming a valuable 1-1 draw when Wayne Rooney dispatched a penalty late on at Anfield.
