‘Passenger’, ‘On borrowed time’ - Liverpool fans destroy midfielder after Sevilla draw

By Derek Smithson

Jordan Henderson completed 90 minutes for Liverpool in their draw against Sevilla – and the club’s supporters destroyed the midfielder’s performance on Twitter.

The Reds captain is a mainstay in the starting line-up, but came under heavy fire from fans for his display in the centre of the park.

Jurgen Klopp’s side recorded a 2-2 home draw against Sevilla in the opening group stage match of the Champions League.

Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah were on the scoresheet for the Merseyside club, but Wissam Ben Yedder and Joaquin Correa both managed to net past a weak Liverpool defence.

Meanwhile, defender Joe Gomez was sent off in the closing stages and the Reds would have been hoping for a win at Anfield.

Liverpool fans took out their frustration on central midfielder Henderson as they feel that he failed to make a serious impact against Sevilla.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Henderson struggled to stamp his authority in the middle of the park and his passing became rushed during a difficult second-half.

The England international is regarded as an important player in the starting line-up, but is going through a difficult patch.

Klopp’s side will have been disappointed with the draw against La Liga side Sevilla on Wednesday and the 5-0 hammering at the hands of Manchester City last weekend will also be fresh on their minds.

They now turn their attention to a home clash against Burnley, before they face Leicester away in the League Cup.

In other Liverpool news, Rio Ferdinand has picked out what they are missing from their team.
