Paul Merson predicts Tottenham v Stoke, explains why Spurs are wobbling
By Amir Mir
Paul Merson has backed Tottenham to beat Stoke 2-1 in their Premier League clash on Sunday afternoon at White Hart Lane.
Sky Sports pundit Merson revealed that Spurs are having “a bit of wobble” because they have looked “tired” during their recent games.
Prior to the weekend clash, the north London club will take on Belgian outfit Gent in a Europa League clash on Thursday night at Wembley.
Mauricio Pochettinio will be hoping his team can overturn a 1-0 deficit from the first leg and follow in the footsteps of Manchester United and progress through to the last 16.
Nonetheless, former Arsenal man Merson gave his thoughts on Spurs in their league clash against Mark Hughes’ side.

“I think Tottenham have a looked a little bit tired. They had a great result at Fulham last weekend, which was a banana skin,” Merson told Sky Sports.
“Stoke are a good team, but I’m backing Tottenham in this one. They are having a little bit of a wobble, but I think they can get a result on Sunday. Stoke are decent, though, and will push them during the game.”
Spurs’ last game was an FA Cup fixture against their London rivals Fulham where they picked up a comfortable 3-0 win.
Striker Harry Kane netted a hat-trick in that encounter at Craven Cottage and he will be hoping to continue his good run for the remainder of this week.
Pochettino’s side are third in the table on 50 points from their 25 games, ten points behind leaders Chelsea and a point ahead of fifth-placed Liverpool.
Dropped points against Stoke could see Spurs fall out of the top four with sixth-placed Manchester United not too far behind on 48 points.
However, Jose Mourinho’s side have an EFL Cup final to contend with on Sunday as they take on Southampton at Wembley.
