Paul Merson: Tottenham won’t win the PL title with this player

Paul Merson has confidently stated that Tottenham won’t win the Premier League title with striker Vincent Janssen up front.
The former Arsenal man was speaking before the Dutchman netted his first league goal from open play during the 4-0 drubbing of Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon.
Merson stated that if the club’s key striker Harry Kane were to get injured for a lengthy period of time then he would not have faith in Janssen to produce the goods.
Since his big money move from AZ Alkmaar, Janssen has struggled to find form and consistency throughout the campaign.
Speaking on Soccer Saturday, which aired on Sky Sports News HQ, Merson advised Tottenham to make this move if they want to go to the next level.

“I think Tottenham are another centre-forward away from moving to that next level,” Merson told Sky Sports.
“I think they have to get someone who is a little bit better than that [when talking about Janssen’s misses during the season] if Harry Kane did get injured, could you see this lad [Janssen] winning the Premier League for you? I don’t see that.”
During his time in Holland, Janssen had scored 32 goals in 49 matches for AZ Alkmaar, which saw Spurs come knocking for his services.
The 22-year-old, who has a not too dissimilar build than Kane, was seen as the player who could possibly help add quality and depth to Pochettino’s squad.
However, he has struggled to live up to that expectation, scoring only six goals in 35 matches in all competitions, with only two coming in the league.
After his goal from the bench against Bournemouth, Janssen will be hoping that will give him the confidence boost to end the season on a high.
He can target the FA Cup semi-final clash against Chelsea on April 22 at Wembley as a game to help build his reputation.
