Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher will have no shortage of “Premier League suitors” this summer after an impressive loan spell at West Brom, according to Paul Robinson.
However, the former Spurs and England goalkeeper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, is adamant that new Blues boss Thomas Tuchel will take a “close look” at the 21-year-old before deciding on his future.
Gallagher has produced a number of eye-catching displays at The Hawthorns this season, despite Sam Allardyce’s side struggling at the bottom end of the table.
His assist in the 1-0 over Brighton on Saturday was his second in 20 league appearances this season – he also has two goals to his name.
In November, the print version of The Sun (15/11/20, p.62) claimed Leeds United were plotting a summer swoop to sign the English attacking midfielder.
When asked by Football Insider if he expected Gallagher to leave Stamford Bridge permanently at the end of the season, Robinson said:
“Gallagher is still just 21 so it will be interesting to see where his future does lie.
“He is a top-quality player and we are starting to see the best of him in the Premier League. What is impressive is that he is showcasing his talents in a side that is struggling and let’s be honest, not playing a style of football that he has become accustomed to at Swansea and Chelsea.
“There will be plenty of Premier League suitors for him if Tuchel does not want him at Chelsea and Leeds may well be one.
“I think Tuchel will have a close look at him this summer though because he is still only 21. I think there could still be a future for him at Chelsea.”
