'Phenomenal' Joelinton in line for new deal after 'massive' Newcastle development - pundit
Joelinton will stay at Newcastle United for a long time and could be given a new deal after proving his versatility to Eddie Howe.
That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Brazilian’s turnaround.
Joelinton, 25, returned to the attack and bagged a brace as Newcastle beat Norwich on Saturday (23 April).
This was also his 100th Premier League appearance in a black and white shirt as fans paid tribute to their number seven before kick-off.
He has been used as a central midfielder since Eddie Howe arrived at St James’ Park and has thrived in this new role.
“Eddie Howe deserves so much credit,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“He’s the one who stuck him in midfield and he has been given this amazing level of confidence.
“It turns out he’s a phenomenal midfielder and he’s now a key player in that position for Newcastle.
“Then you stick him in the attack and he delivers. I know it was only Norwich but they are still a Premier League team, for now.
“So it shows he can do a job there and versatility is a massive thing in football at the moment.
“You need to be able to do multiple jobs and at one point it looked like Joelinton couldn’t do one job.
“He will be at Newcastle for a long time because, weiredly, I don’t think anyone will want to sign him.
“They could even give him a new deal as a thank you.”
Joelinton has scored 14 goals in 113 total outings for the Magpies.
He joined the club from Hoffenheim in the summer of 2019.
