Kevin Phillips has claimed Celtic are making progress in their bid to sign two-times Premier League winner Joe Hart.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, the former England striker revealed he has been told that a move to the Glasgow giants is on the cards for the 33-year-old.
Celtic have been linked with Hart in recent weeks, with the Daily Record reporting the club are in “advanced talks” with the former England number one.
Manager Neil Lennon revealed last week he is searching for a new goalkeeper as he assesses alternatives to 2019-20 loan sensation Fraser Forster.
The Hoops boss revealed a deal had been agreed with Southampton for another Forster deal but the player had rejected it.
Asked by Football Insider for his verdict on the Celtic keeper situation, Phillips said: “It is an area that Celtic are looking for.
“If Forster does not go there I hear that Joe Hart has a chance of signing. He may have something already lined up.”
Hart is a free agent after his contract at Burnley expired last month.
The longstanding former England number one has extensive Premier League and international experience as well as a trophy cabinet that includes two league titles, two FA Cups and the League Cup.
