Kevin Phillips has heaped praise on West Ham attacker Jarrod Bowen following his performance against West Brom.
The former Sunderland and England striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, said the 24-year-old has turned into an “amazing player” under David Moyes’ management.
Bowen opened the scoring for the Hammers on Tuesday night as they climbed to seventh in the table with a 2-1 win over West Brom.
His 19 Premier League appearances this season have yielded five goals and two assists.
Phillips was blown away by Bowen’s goal against the Baggies.
“I think he has turned into an amazing player,” the ex-striker told Football Insider. “He gives them that cutting edge. He is a constant threat and now he is chipping in with goals.
“I don’t think Martin Keown had his glasses on because he said he headed the ball,” Phillips joked.
“To be fair, he is live and miles away but you could tell it was off his chest on the replays.
“It was a very intelligent finish and the power he got on it was remarkable. He is turning into a really good player for David Moyes.
“I thought Antonio did really well in that central role as well on Tuesday night.
“You have to say that West Ham are looking like a really imposing side. They have got some great players there and they will be a test for anyone this season.”
