Kevin Phillips has admitted concerns over Marcelo Bielsa’s ability to fix the Tottenham defence if he takes over as manager.
The Sunderland legend, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, also claimed Bielsa would be a good appointment in the long run.
Last week, Football Insider revealed Tottenham are weighing up a move for Bielsa after failing to lure their preferred manager targets.
It is Understood the Spurs board have missed out on many of their top targets including Julian Nagelsmaan and have given up hope of luring Brendan Rodgers from Leicester City.

Phillips claims Spurs fans would ‘love’ Bielsa but cast doubts on his ability to fix their defensive issues.
“With the style of play, you would certainly get entertaining football,” Phillips told Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs.
“Defensively, where Tottenham have had a problem this year, you would have a slight concern.
“That’s not a strength of Bielsa, Leeds go for it every game and Spurs fans would love that.
“But defensively you have to get the balance right. With his experience and the way he goes about his business, it’s a good fit.
“It’s not a no brainer but if they were to get him it would be a good appointment.”
Leeds have conceded 53 goals in the Premier League this season though their defence has improved since the turn of the year.
Bielsa joined Leeds in 2018 and is looking to secure a top-half finish in the top flight.
