Odsonne Edouard is heading to the Premier League after switching agents in a move that sounds the death knell for his Celtic career.
That is according to Kevin Phillips, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Hoops striker’s thinly-veiled transfer plan.
Football Insider exclusively revealed earlier this week that Edouard has switched agents to London-based sports agency Stellar Group.
He was previously represented by little-know French agents and the switch to global giant Stellar has intensified speculation of a Premier League transfer this summer.
Phillips is in doubt that is where Edouard is headed.
“When a player switches agents, there is a reason why,” the pundit told Football Insider. “There is no smoke without fire.
“Edouard will certainly, for me, move on in the summer and leave Celtic. That is a confirmation that he is going to leave.
“It is a real shame for Celtic but I think someone in the Premier League will benefit from him.
“There will be clubs queuing up for his signature at the end of the season.”
Celtic were successful in fending off interest in their prize asset during the summer window after slapping a prohibitive £40million price tag on him to scare off suitors.
But Edouard has not been the same player this season as he was during his sensational 2019-20 campaign that ended with him winning the Scottish Player of the Year.
Nevertheless, he has an outstanding record for the Hoops of 66 goals and 36 assists from 132 matches.
