Phillips predicts Leeds swoop for Origi after £15m update
Kevin Phillips claims Leeds United could swoop for Divock Origi with the club now prioritising the signing of a new striker.
The Sunderland legend, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insists a new forward is next on the agenda at Elland Road.
On July 2nd, The Athletic’s Caoimhe O’Neill reported that Liverpool will sanction Origi’s exit for a fee between £15-20million this summer.
Origi, 26, only made nine Premier League appearances last season with only two of those outings coming from the start.
He also only scored once in all competitions last season.
Last season, Patrick Bamford started every league game for the Whites and scored 17 goals.

Marcelo Bielsa doesn’t have an obvious backup to Bamford with Rodrigo utilised in a central midfield role.
Asked if a striker will be next to arrive at Elland Road, Phillips told Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, “Yeah, I think so.
“We saw with Bamford last season, at the end he looked tired. He wasn’t the same player he was earlier in the season.
“That comes from playing too much football. They might look for a player who could play wide and through the middle.
“Maybe someone like Divock Origi. Maybe Leeds could nick in and get him from Liverpool. At that price? Certainly.
“With the time left in the window, I think we will see Leeds move for him, or a player like that.”
Origi has scored some iconic goals for Liverpool despite never being particularly prolific.
He scored in the 2019 Champions League final after scoring a brace against Barcelona in the semi-final.
