Phillips predicts next Leeds to be proven star who'll dazzle at Elland Road
Kevin Phillips is concerned about the lack of an experienced goalkeeper at Leeds United.
The Sunderland legend, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, reacted as the Whites’ signed a new second-choice stopper.
On Saturday (31 July) Leeds announced the signing of Klaesson on a four-year deal.
Klaesson, 20, has made 58 senior appearances during his career and is expected to replace Kiko Casilla as second choice stopper at Elland Road.
He will play second fiddle to Illan Meslier, 21, who impressed during his debut season in the Premier League.
Phillips claims Leeds may sign another more experienced goalkeeper before the season starts.

“I always like to see a goalkeeper with experience there,” Phillips told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“I wouldn’t say Leeds fans should be concerned but it’s not ideal.
“Most clubs have that, City have Scott Carson, Man United have Lee Grant, they know if there’s a disaster they can step in.
“They add a lot in the dressing room too.
“Can Klaessen step up if Meslier gets injured? That’s the big question. That could become a problem position for them.
“Bringing in a 20-year-old at Elland Road in front of a full crowd, that’s a massive ask.
“It’s an important season for Leeds so it wouldn’t surprise me if they brought in an experienced goalkeeper next and that could be massive.”
Casilla has joined FC Elche on loan for the 2021-22 season.
He was firmly second choice to Meslier last season but still made five appearances in all competitions.
