Phillips shares Klaesson doubts as Leeds backed to sign experienced Premier League keeper
Kevin Phillips claims Leeds United fans will be concerned with the club close to signing Kristoffer Klaesson.
The Sunderland legend, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, reacted to the latest on the Whites‘ transfer hunt.
Football Insider revealed on 22nd July that Leeds are in advanced negotiations to sign Klaesson from Norweigan side Valerenga.
The Whites have moved on from their pursuit of Newcastle’s Freddie Woodman after discovering he only wants to join a club where he is guaranteed first team football.
Klaesson, 20, has made 58 senior appearances during his career and is expected to replace Kiko Cassila as second choice at Elland Road.
He will play second fiddle to Illan Meslier, 21, who impressed during his debut season in the Premier League.

Phillips claims a lack of experience in the goalkeeping department should worry fans and tipped Leeds to move for a third choice keeper.
“Yeah, it’s a risk,” Phillips told Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs.
“You always want that backup keeper who’s a bit more experience.
“Meslier isn’t the oldest player in the world. They may go for another goalkeeper just to have that Premier League experience.
“It’s always hard coming to the Premier League if he was to be thrown in.
“If I’m a Leeds fan, I’m concerned. I think it’s a bit of a risk.”
Casilla joined FC Elche on loan for the 2021-22 season.
He was firmly second choice to Meslier last season but still made five appearances in all competitions.
