Pundit: This is how many games Solskjaer is from Man United sack

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is two games away from the sack at Man United.

That is the view of former Sunderland and England striker Kevin Phillips, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 48-year-old’s future at Old Trafford.

Solskjaer’s position is under huge scrutiny after a 5-0 loss at home to Liverpool on Sunday.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the loss, the United boss insisted he has no doubt that he is the right man to take the club forward.

The Red Devils have won just two of their last seven fixture across all competitions, with the two wins far from convincing.

Man United travel to Spurs and Atalanta before facing local rivals Manchester City.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs if Solskjaer is on the brink, Phillips said: “It was a huge result.

“It has not helped his situation.

“Going into the match you were thinking, whatever you do, don’t go and get a hiding from them.

“I think it will take a couple more poor performances for Ole to go though. That would heap more pressure on.

“The problem is, once the media start turning on you it becomes very difficult.

“I think they will stick with him until the end of the season and then re-assess it. That is unless the next couple of performances are similar.

“They need to find a system that works. It is not working right now.”
