Phillips tipped to snub 'desperate' Leeds contract offer after source reveal
Alan Hutton has suggested Kalvin Phillips could snub a new contract at Leeds United to pursue a ” very high level” move.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Scotland full-back questioned whether the 25-year-old would want to commit his long-term future at Elland Road.
A Leeds source has told Football Insider (16th September) the club have opened talks over a new deal with Phillips.
A United source has updated to reveal that talks are at an early stage but the club want the deal done by 1 January ahead of the winter window.
His current terms, signed back in 2019 when Leeds were still in the Championship, are set to run until 2024.
Hutton admitted Leeds would be “desperate” to get him tied down.

However, he suggested Phillips might want to hold off putting pen to paper to see what transfer opportunities arise.
Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “He’s got a couple years left.
“It doesn’t surprise me they’re trying to tie him down. There’ll be all sorts of teams sniffing around him.
“Fair play to him, he’s been an outstanding performer for Leeds. He is now an outstanding performer for England. He’s taken his game to a new level.
“I don’t think Leeds are the same team when he’s not playing. They’ll be desperate to tie him down a long-term deal.
“But will he sign one? I’m not so sure. There will be a lot of teams after him in the next year or so.
“We’ll have to see how that plays out, but he could definitely play a very high level.”
