Phillips tips 'bulked-up' Bamford to return for Leeds physically transformed after 'beast' reveal
Patrick Bamford will return from injury for Leeds United physically transformed.
That is the view of 2000 European Golden Shoe winner Kevin Phillips, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 28-year-old’s recent comments on the official Leeds United podcast.
As quoted by the Yorkshire Evening Post (5th October), Bamford revealed he has been able to “beast his legs” and push his body to the limit while sidelined.
The England international has been absent from Marcelo Bielsa’s side with an ankle injury.
He is vying to return for the visit of Southampton on October 16th.
When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his assessment of Bamford’s comments, Phillips said:

“You have to take the positives out of the negative. There is nothing worse than being injured as a footballer. All you want to do is train and play.
“Bamford has played an awful lot of football over the past few years. You could see it effected him at the end of last season because his form dipped. He played nearly every minute of every game.
“He doesn’t want to be injured but he perhaps needs that time. It allows him to recover, rest and then get in the gym to work on some strength and conditioning exercises which will improve him.
“I’m glad he’s enjoying being in the gym. It will be interesting to see how he performs when he comes back.
“He’s probably worked on his upper body strength and bulked up a bit. Or, he may have worked on his legs to make himself a bit quicker. I’m intrigued to see what areas he’s been working on in the gym.”
