Pickford: There's nothing more Everton want to do than finish above Liverpool
By Abigail Withey
Everton’s new goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has expressed the club’s wants to finish above fierce Merseyside rivals Liverpool this season.
The 23-year-old joined the Toffees from Sunderland in a five-year-deal worth over £25 million in July, making him the most expensive English goalkeeper.
Pickford was joined by a host of players when boss Ronald Koeman brought the likes of Gylfi Sigurdsson, Michael Keane, Davy Klaassen, Sandro Ramirez, Cuco Martina and former Toffees star Wayne Rooney to Goodison Park over the duration of the transfer window.
The club’s new keeper has kept a clean sheet in all of the games he has featured in for the Toffees so far, in both the Europa and Premier League.
Pickford has now spoken about the club’s transfer business and how it will stand the Toffees in good stead over the 2017/18 campaign.

The England Under-21 shared his views on his new club’s chances in the current campaign after spending big this summer.
“We sold Lukaku in the summer, but spent a lot of money. We are expecting to win and win,” Pickford told the Liverpool Echo.
“We have to concentrate on what we do and keep picking up results when we can.”
The young stopper spoke ahead of their Monday night clash against Premier League giants Manchester City.
“That is what the Premier League is all about,” the goalkeeper explained. “You have got to thrive on those big games. We have to go with a good game plan and try to execute it.”
While Pickford and his team mates look ahead to their next Premier League match, the keeper has revealed that there is a big focus among the Everton squad.
“It would be massive for everyone at the club if we could finish above Liverpool,” he revealed. “There is nothing more we would want to do.”
While the Englishman remains positive ahead of their match away at the Etihad, his boss has recently said that it would be a miracle if his team were able to continue their run of clean sheets against Pep Guardiola’s side.
