'Brilliant', 'Massive' - Tottenham fans go into meltdown after latest club announcement

Tottenham fans were thrilled to discover that Victor Wanyama trained with the first-team on Monday as the midfielder continued his recovery from a knee injury.

Spurs’ official Twitter account shared a picture of the star taking part in training, with the first-team preparing to face Brighton on Wednesday.

The midfielder hasn’t featured for Spurs since August, making only two appearances in the league this season.

Last season Wanyama played 47 times across all competitions for Tottenham, scoring four goals and grabbing one assist.

The midfielder’s appearance in training had fans raving, with one fan sharing that he thought the player had been a massive miss.

Wanyama previously made fans excited in early November when he shared pictures of him training alone in the gym.

After only being able to play the midfield in two league games this season, Spurs sit sixth with 28 points.

Tottenham are two points behind Liverpool in the Champions League qualification places and 18 points off league leaders Manchester City.

Spurs have only won one of their last five games, with their victory coming in their last outing against Stoke City.

Despite disappointment in the league, Tottenham have been successful in the Champions League.

Spurs topped their group and achieved memorable victories against both Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund.

Mauricio Pochettino’s team are set to play Juventus in the knockout stage of the competition and Danny Murphy believes the club need Wanyama fit for the clash if they want to progress.
