It was announced by the club on Wednesday afternoon that that the Crystal Palace midfielder has made a switch from the Premier League to the Championship.

Jedinak, 32 was a firm fans favourite at Selhurst Park, with the Australian captaining the London club to promotion in 2012-13 season.

Villa’s new chief hopes the Australia international can have the same impact with Villa.

“Welcome to Villa family!” Xia posted on his personal Twitter account. “Mile Jedinak, Up the Villa.”

Chinese businessman Xia has spent close to £35 million on six summer signing since purchasing the club for £75 million in June.

Xia will be hoping the likes of James Chester, Ross McCormack, Aaron Tshibola, Pierluigi Gollini and Tommy Elphick can help the club to instant promotion.

Jedinak will now compete for a first-team spot with Ashley Westwood, Gary Gardner and Aaron Tshibola, with all three featuring so far this season.

But the combative midfielder will be unavailable for selection until his registration with the FA and English Football League is complete.
