Premier League side Bournemouth have had an eight-figure bid rejected for Leicester attacker and Tottenham target Demarai Gray, according to a report.
The Mirror have claimed on their live transfer blog (Friday, 11.29am) that the Cherries have had a huge £20million bid turned down for the 21-year-old left-winger.
Spurs are also specifically mentioned in the report to be tracking the situation of the left-winger, who is said to have become disillusioned at the King Power stadium over a lack of match time.
However, it is also said that the north London club are unwilling to match the 2016 Premier League champions’ valuation of the 11-time England Under-21 international, which is believed to be around £25million.
Leicester boss Craig Shakespeare is also reported to be keen to keep hold of youngster Gray, who signed for just £3.7million from Birmingham in January 2016.
The young attacker has returned two goals and seven assists from 55 matches in all appearances following his move and still has three years remaining on his contract at Leicester.
Football Insider verdict:
Tottenham seem to be one of few clubs resisting joining the current overpriced player market this summer and while it is a refreshing stance they could also miss out on some players like Gray because of it. The young winger is a huge talent and will only get better under the right coach. It is currently not happening for him at Leicester for whatever reason. However, Mauricio Pochettino could certainly help him hit the potential which could see him become one of the Premier League’s best players. One thing Tottenham are lacking in their squad is a natural wide player, but Gray could certainly prove to be the answer for the north London club.
