'All over the place', 'Liability' - Aston Villa fans tear into one player for display in Second City derby stalemate
By Aramide Oladipo
Aston Villa supporters took to social media to criticise the performance of summer signing Glenn Whelan in the Second City derby on Sunday afternoon.
The 33-year-old played the full 90 minutes as Steve Bruce’s men played out a 0-0 draw against bitter rivals Birmingham City at St Andrew’s.
It was a very tight affair but Villa might feel that they could have snatched all three points in the second-half with forwards Jonathan Kodjia and Kieran Davis hitting the bar.
Birmingham’s best chance fell to playmaker Jota but he produced a very disappointing finish in a one-on-one situation.
The Villa fans went on social media to deliver their verdict on the encounter and the majority of them were not pleased with Whelan’s overall display.

Despite the negative reaction from the Villa fans, Sky Sports named Whelan as the man of the match.
The midfielder left the pitch having gained possession back for his side eight times, making two interceptions and eight clearances.
The result means that Villa remain in the playoff places in the league table with Birmingham now two points off the bottom three.
Villa will look to get back to winning ways when they travel to Preston North End in midweek.
