Tottenham are desperate to get rid of Dele Alli after slapping a £25million price tag on him, according to Danny Mills.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-England and Manchester City defender insisted there will be plenty of suitors for the England international.
Football Insider understands Spurs will be looking to secure a £25million fee for Dele, unless he has an unexpected influential end to the season.
The 24-year-old had a January exit to Paris Saint-Germain blocked by Daniel Levy when the French giants refused to pay a £3million loan fee.
It would have seen Dele reunited with Mauricio Pochettino who waxed lyrical about the attacker on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football earlier this season.
As relayed by TEAMtalk, the Argentine compared Dele’s “charisma” to that of all-time great Diego Maradona.
Asked what he made of the England international’s new price-tag, Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “That doesn’t seem like a particularly high fee.
“It’s a reasonable fee and he’ll have a lot of suitors.
“£25million is not a lot, that says ‘We want him out.’ That’s the way I look at it.
“There comes a point where, if you’re not wanted somewhere, as much as you want to stay… You can sit it out and not play football but it’s tough to do that. It’s tough not to play football.
“He’s had a couple of seasons of not playing a lot of football, to have another two or three is difficult, it’s really difficult.
“Maybe him, his agent and the club have all got together and said ‘Come on, let’s be realistic about it. You get a decent fee and get him off the wage bill.’ And you go from there.”
