Pochettino: This is what to expect from Tottenham against Leicester

By Matt Farr

Mauricio Pochettino insists his Tottenham side will be determined to prove they have a ‘winning mentality’ against Leicester on Thursday.

Tottenham have emerged as a formidable force in the Premier League in recent season, and have become an genuine contender for the league title.

However, similarly to last season, the north London club fell at the final hurdle and conceded the title race to one of their rivals, first Leicester last year, and more recently, Chelsea.

Their continued lack of silverware, despite their recent resurgence, has drawn widespread criticism about their mentality when the going gets tough, but Pochettino has urged his side to prove a point against Leicester.

Speaking to the club’s official website, the Spurs chief revealed what to expect in their penultimate game: “It’s true we cannot change our position in the table but it’s important to finish well and to show that we want to win.

“That’s important against Leicester and Hull and the mentality is to try to win. This is a great moment for us to show that our mentality is good.

“Every time you play it’s about winning because when you play football and you play for big or small things, the biggest thing is to play for your pride and to create the habits that always win.”

The upcoming games will have little bearing on the final outcome of Tottenham’s season, with the club having already secured a second-placed finish.

They have also already achieved a club record points total in their Premier League history, with 80 points from their 36 games.

However, as Pochettino has declared, he wants to see his side end the season on a high with wins against Leicester, and then Hull on the final day.
