Pochettino extends invitation to Tottenham HQ for transfer talks with Levy

By Harry Sykes

Mauricio Pochettino has invited all clubs keen on buying Tottenham players to hold transfer talks with chairman Daniel Levy.

The Argentine urged interested parties to travel to the club’s Enfield training headquarter to meet the long-standing Spurs chief if they wanted to pursue a deal.

Pochettino made the apparently tongue-in-cheek comment on Thursday following reports in the media this week that the futures of defenders Toby Alderweireld and Eric Dier are in doubt.

Manchester United have been linked with a £40million pursuit of the versatile Dier, while a Sky journalist delivered the bombshell news on Wednesday that Alderweireld has told Tottenham he will not sign a new contract.

Pochettino dismissed the possibility of the pair leaving and urged rival clubs to knock on the door of Levy, who is renowned as a tough negotiator.

“I invite all the clubs that want players from Tottenham to come to the training ground and visit our chairman Daniel Levy,” said Pochettino at his weekly media briefing, as quoted by the personal Twitter account of ESPN FC correspondent Dan Kilpatrick.

Alderweireld has been one of the outstanding defenders in the Premier League since joining Spurs in the summer of 2015 and has been integral to the transformation of the team under Mauricio Pochettino.

The 28-year-old was a shock exclusion on Thursday from the PFA team of the season, although four of his teammates are included, Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Kyle Walker and Danny Rose.

Spurs are flying high following a series of outstanding results that has enabled them to challenge Chelsea for the Premier League title.

The two clubs will also go head to head on Saturday evening in a hotly anticipated FA Cup semi-final clash at Wembley.

In other Tottenham news, the club have sensationally terminated the contract of one of their defenders.
